Tech and Social Impact

Portfolio Highlights
Over the years, I have worked on various projects that involve the intersection of technology and social impact. Highlights include:
Delivering digital security training for women activists in Somalia.
Managing custom mobile app deployments for farmers in Rwanda.
Providing technical guidance on countless funding proposals.
Data, Network Analysis, ML/NLP
Web Development
I have modest experience in full-stack web development, primarily utilizing the MERN stack. I really enjoy back-end development, including configuring server-side architecture and figuring out other key app engines. Projects include:
'Kanbas' (pictured) - a functional clone of the popular Canvas LMS (MERN).
'Bookworm' - a social media website for reviewing books (MERN).
MeetHalfway.net - a personal project for an idea I had years ago. A lightweight web app to suggest optimal halfway meetup points for happy hour (Svelte).

I really enjoy working with interesting data sets and have developed strong data cleaning, analysis, and visualization skills. Highlights include:
Leading stakeholder network analysis to visualize and understand complex relationships among organizations in West Africa focusing on community resilience and countering violent extremism.
Data mining and predictive modeling (Logistic Regression, Random Forest, XGBoost) using human trafficking data to uncover patterns in forced labor and sexual exploitation, achieving 80% accuracy in classifying exploitation types and predicting victim origins.
Utilizing instruction-tuned LLMs and RAG embedding methods for useful uses of LLMs to solve real-world problems such classifying and labeling of large bodies of text.
